Questions and answers

When are tomorrow's prices published?

Around 14:00 Latvian time (13:00 CET). Bids for the next day close at 13:00, and the prices for every 15 minutes usually come out between 13:45 and 14:00. A delayed auction pushes them later into the afternoon.

Can tomorrow's prices still change?

No. Once published, the auction result is final, and a dynamic contract bills exactly these prices. The hourly prices in the table are averages of the four quarter-hour prices.

Why is electricity often cheap in Latvia in spring?

In a year with plenty of snow, the spring flood fills the Daugava, and the hydro plants at Pļaviņas, Ķegums and Riga run at full power, so prices are often low in April and May. In a dry year, such as 2025, there is little or no flood. In late summer and winter the river is lower, and prices depend more on gas and imports.
